Last Day

Hehe! Today is the last day of my long, forsaken, hard experiment! I should have gone with a informative experiment than a habitual experiment :( [developing a new habit is haaardd].
For a wrap up, I started this experiment because I notice the decrease in people who buys newspaper, and would rather go online for news source instead. By doing so, it is fast and efficient. Besides, I also notice how people are less interested in reading the newspaper too! Why? I included it in my report below! :D

In my experiment, I noticed a vast difference between the main sources I chose. They are BBC, CNN, ABC and TheStar respectively. The differences between them are :

  • The amount of national/international news published.
  • The amount of political/accidents/entertainment news
  • The way they focus on different news source. [which news site focus on which.]
During my experiment, I often got lost on where should I start because of the wide choice provided. On BBC news, as easy as it seems, they have the one-minute world news (which was my favorite) to guide you on where you should start your news with. They normally includes political news and events that are occurring in the world. and they are similar to the newspaper headlines. However, in CNN and ABC news, they focuses more on events and entertainment news. Which for one, I call it "scoop" and not "news". As we follow back to Day 12's Actress alleges Polanski assault, even so some people know who she is [I don't even know her!], it is not a huge concern of our daily life which we want to read about it. Compared to the Oil spill, and Iceland's volcano ash, her suing Polanski is a very minor issue. I believe these entertainment news are very much the reason why people are less interested in reading/watching the news anymore. It does not focus on the community's concern. In addition, these [entertainment news] are not even considered news! So, why do people want to read these?! They could buy a magazine instead, than scooping around in the news section.

As i was conducting this experiment, I found what amuses me most are the different things going on in different parts of the world yet, at the same time. For example, the Oil spill at the Gulf of Mexico, Iceland's volcanic ash, Times square bomb attempt, Bangkok trouble, and much more! Watching/reading the news is a never ending thing. It is not like a book where we can finish up in a week or two. I like this habit of watching the news and keeping me informed of the current issues. Yet, on the other hand, its also very time consuming and I find that I have lesser time to do other things. A dilemma I have of being aware of my surroundings and the laziness in me! :P All in all, I believe watching/reading the news pays off, because these are all becoming part of the world history, and we can all learn something from it.

Day 29

30 mins for the last day!!! :D:D:D

"You can live with HIV for years but die everyday from discrimination"
This post is about people who got HIV, and got discriminated in many ways.
For example, family disown, fear of achieving a dream, and nobody wants to be their friend.
There is also a story about how doctors "cleaned" a HIV patient with clorox to "disinfect".
HIV is unable to transmit through physical activity such as sneezing, hugging or swimming in the same pool.
As Jo-Jo Struys went to the PT Foundation for more stories,
she came upon many discrimination stories, most of them involved family disown.
All in all, even thought someone is living with HIV, it is not an excuse to be discriminated by other people.

As a student, do not stop imagining things, as it may come true even bigger than you think.
This post talks about how 4 students who are trying to finish up their final programming project, yet ended up as the finalist of this year's "Olympics of student technology", the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2010 Malaysia finals.
They won themselves RM10,000 and to represent Malaysia for the World finals in Poland.
The software they made is concentrating on housewives who have a hard time deciding what to cook for dinner.
It includes sections that shows nutrition value, allergic, or medical issues such as diabetes.
So if a person is allergic to peanuts, they could check off this ingredient, and get another list of "peanut-less" recipes.
Easy, fun, and very new.

Day 28

i spent 15 minutes today.

Giampaolo Pazzini from Italy, claims that Adidas World Cup ball is a 'disaster'.
Why? seems like Adidas soccer ball is not much different than what you buy in a supermarket.
Difficult to control, predict, all in all, horrible and terrible! (as said by Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar).
This article is practically talking about the Adidas ball and how Alberto Gilardino and Giampaolo Pazzini are really nice to each other...(wow. :D )

2 age 5 and 3 boys are locked inside the bathroom.
suspected that they died due to large amount of inhaled smoke.
In my opinion, i think the father, who failed to save his 5 year old son and 3 year old neighbor may have a phobia forever.
"I just could not do anything, they were screaming for help and the bathroom door was locked. I tried to force it open but it was just too hot for me to remain in the building" he said.
Just like the podcast, it became a fear in his life, an awful incident that he been through.

Day 27

i spent 30 mins today browsing through the list.

This post is interesting because it talked about the legend/myth of a Sarawak Culture.
titled Batang Arong and the Sky Goddess:When Love Hunts for Magic.
It is about a sky goddess who came to earth, and married to a nobleman, Batang Arong.
As the goddess got bored of the human life. He asked Batang Arong to go look for magical things to keep her entertained.
He then came back with 1) a magical sape that can produce food 2) a magical comb which produce jewellery
even so, the goddess sent him off for another quest to obtain eternal youth.
During his quest, he meets 5 blood-sucking sisters and a giant cobra.
The story ends here~! if you want to know how it ends, it cost RM60 for adults and RM30 for children aged 6-12! :D cheers!

it is open for Sarawakians to have easy access to library books.
They could just stay home, click on the books they wish to borrow, and Pos Malaysia will deliver it to the house.
It is very convenient way for Sarawakians because they could just go online and search which library have what they want, rather than going to the library themselves.

Day 26

Today i spent around 20 minutes.

This article is about the new found electronic system in SMK Elizabeth.
the electronic system helps anyone that are involved in the school : students, parents and teachers.
SMK Elizabeth is the first high school with a electronic device, to help students to communicate with their teachers. (something like msn).
It is also a step the school made for the students to improve, and stay on schedule.

As most of us know, Simon Cowell, the mean person among the American Idol judges is quitting the job.
The love-hate relationship for Simon Cowell's comments has been one of the best part of the show!
Anyway, this article talks about how the show added a part for Simon Cowell.
how much he is appreciated and how happy they are when he's there.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Day 25

I spent 30 mins~
focusing on oil spill.

Happening in Malaysia, there are 2 vessels that are detained for having no permit or document to allow any oil transfer activity between the 2 vessels.
Since they do not have the required permits, captains of both vessels had been arrested and the identification documents of all 19 crew members are confiscated.
The Marine Department then report the fine of RM100,000 and/or 2 years imprisonment.

BP focusing on 2 key areas : to cement the well head and blowout preventer.
Tony Hayward, chief executive of BP PLC, announced that the intense oil spill trouble may due to a combination of failures.
They are now examining the pieces of equipment that are still on the seafloor.

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Day 24

Today i spent 15 minutes browsing through The Star~

Gangsterism is starting more and more earlier in age.
This article shows a problematic school in Rawang.
Gangs, alcohol, drugs, sexual crimes.
Even though its on the news for days,
the authorities looks as if the have not taken action.
What actually surprise me is, the authority in school knew of the problem yet say "no one has come forward to report or put them on record ... for us to take further action".
I see thats totally bizarre! like wth?! its so obvious and they need "reports" in order to "take further action".
FAIL.

After a collision between a Malaysian-flagged tanker and Singaporean-flagged vessel, the Indonesian marine police help clean up the oil slick formed.
While the tanker was carrying 50,000 tonnes of crude oil, the crash allowed around 20,000 crude oil to flow into the sea.
as reported, a part of oil slick had been removed after 14 hours of clean up made by the Singapore and Malaysian police.
And the Indonesian marine helped out the next day, fearing that the oil spill could affect Indonesian territory.
Hmm, oil spills everywhere~ :(

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Day 23

Today I spent around 20 mins on TheStar.

The on-going events in Bangkok stirred up many problems.
Many of the citizens gathered across the on-going sites to pray for peace in their country.
Buddhist monks, Muslim imams, Christian priest, and Hindu faithful are all included as well.
They hope to form a prayer which is able to call upon God's help.

After the sunken ship of South Korea, North Korea warned to close the last road link across the border if Seoul broadcast anti-Pyongyang propaganda.
To end things, China proposed North Korean to be calm and talk things out.
With the UN backing South Korea, North Korea seems to be in bad shape.

Monday, May 24, 2010

Day 22

Today is the 4th week of the 30 days experiment.
I will be watching the news based on TheStar.
TheStar is a well known news publication from Malaysia.
I spent 30 minutes watching today.
First of all, I would love to say, after 8 months of adapting to American accent and slang ... Malaysian accent is just...awful... *drops*!!

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak says that he hope for the media,
to be a partner of the government,
to be a part that transform the country
for the better future.

the Greatest Tourism Malaysia Parade,
shows the multi ethnic, cultural, and race of Malaysia, performed in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (May 22, 2010).
According to the Tourism Minister, Datuk Seri Ng, this parade have been the country's signature attraction since 1999.
6000 participants for the Parade includes students all over the country and their specialties such as handcrafts.

From ABC News:

Louisiana Governor is Fed Up
The oil from the mexico gulf is getting to the coast of Lousiana.
This is endangering the wild life who settle there.
According to the environment protection agency says:
"BP must reduce use of chemical dispersant"
"BP will face fines"
As we can see~ BP is getting themselves into a huge mess!!
As a solution, BP says they will try to use cement and shut the leak.

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Day 21

Today I spent around 30 mins on the World News.

Even thought how long and similar arts and dances are, we will never grow out of it.
It includes China's most well known acrobatics, and also considered as a ancient sport.
A combination of balance and support from each teammate.
This video shows a few of the stunts and culture of China.

Sebastian Junger wrote about a book, War, which he writes about his experience.
Fear, killing, and love.
The book talks about how the soldiers are more concern about their 'brothers' more than themselves.
He gives a sense of how the soldiers are really scared and afraid but they always feel stronger, because they have their 'brothers' with them.
A total experience of War from a soldier himself.
Yet, the experience in war are very dearly for the soldiers, the adrenaline and the feeling of being needed.

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Day 20

Today i spent around 20 mins on the news

Even if its a few days old, this is shocking...
Australian teen Jessica Watson, 16 years old
sail on her pink boat around the world.
*Wow* its really awesome to see how young and brave this teenager could be

According to the last Holland plane crash,
A 9 year old boy, the only survivor was found in that tragic crash.
It seems like he knows how he was injured and hope to live on.
He was then pass to his relative in Holland as his guardian.

Friday, May 21, 2010

Day 19

Today I spent 30 mins watching the news.

Oil Leak: Dispersant Dilemma
"Worst Environmental Disaster"
The Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico became the greatest environmental catastrophe of the United States.
BP have been saying that the leakage is not as much, yet,
yet right now, people are able to watch the oil leak "LIVE",
The oil leaks 5000 gallons per day and BP's attempt to "transfer most of the oil spill straight to the ship" , FAILED.
Plus, the so called "safe solution" of soap from BP, is actually causing more to the Oil Spill.
Using the same mistake in Atlaska, animals that came in contact with it will die.

Texas Board of Education have thought of rewriting history textbook.
a Christian land, govern by Christian principles.
It seems that the Texas Board of Education is trying to brainwash the students in Texas!
In my opinion, it seems that they are trying to hide the history to gain more favor for Christianity.

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Day 18

Today, I spent around 30 mins watching the news :D
I focused on World News more than the US News.

5 famous paintings, including Picasso's and Matisse's,
Half a billion dollars in total, are stolen from the museum in Paris.
They are confused on how the alarm system have not function.
Investigators are looking through the empty frames, videos and the broken window used.
Seems like there are many other similar incident, focusing on Picasso's art work.

Thailand Anti-Government: RedShirt and Government have been exchanging fires.
Still, in Bangkok, Thailand, the government have set curfews for the citizens.
On the Redshirt perspective, they evacuate children, women and elderly.
The Redshirt says they are ready to negotiate if government stop shooting.
Government attempt to cut off supply.
and on the Redshirt perspective, they use homemade bombs to counter.
I can't help but wonder why are there still tourist in Bangkok =_="
Yet, they show concerns about their days in Bangkok.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Day 17

I am busy today so I spent around 15 minutes on my experiment.
I find that i do not like ABC news as much.
Their videos are full of words without beautiful people! >:( :P

Food addiction is as similar as alcohol and drug addiction.
Food addict is such as having to eat all the time, and there is treatment for Food Addict.
She is afraid that her way of eating will kill her in her sleep, because she always feel bloated to the point where she can't breath.
Her normal intake adds up to 15,000 calories.
She believes this addiction is "the fight of her life"

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Day 16

I spent 15 minutes today.
I was looking through today's news, and I found many "roundtable" which i have never encounter before.
Roundtable : a "meeting" of many people's point of view

The oil spill have not leave us.
They are arguing if Obama is doing a good job on the Oil Spill.
They are finding for solutions on how could we can help to minimize the oil spill.

The military is satisfied with the cooperation of increased military action in Pakistan.

Monday, May 17, 2010

Day 15

From today onwards, i will be watching only from ABC News.
ABC news also have easy access to videos which were also on television.
It is easier to watch the news here because it is full of entertainment news :D
But the downside to ABC news is: they do not have "latest" section, which i would have to look for the sources... just like CNN.

the study of how cell phone affects our body.
the results are:
  • frequent users have higher chance of getting brain cancer
  • users whom seldom uses, cellphone actually helps decrease the possibility of brain cancer!
how weird is that! so remember not to use your cell phone for 30 mins a day or more.

ADHD = Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder
Pesticides commonly found in fruits and vegetables may affect children.
Children around 8-15 of age is getting studied, believing they are the easiest people to get the behavior.
The highest level of pesticides are found in peach, strawberries and raspberry.
There are many solutions to it :
  • Wash your fruits and vegetables
  • peel your food.
  • Select varieties of food,
  • lastly, go for the expensive organic food.

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Day 14

Customers help keep business afloat.
Eric and Alexis Koefoed breed their chicken in an organic way.
Believing it is healthier with higher qualities.
They were convinced they lost their job last September when a fire burned down their chicken coop.
But their customers, such as Alice Waters from Chez Panisse Restaurant believes, without her help and her organic way of breeding, her restaurant would not be successful. In order to stay successful, Waters gathers other restaurants to buy eggs only from Koefoed's.
With this, the Koefoeds are able to start up again after the fire.

On once the busiest street of Bangkok, it now turned into a battlefield.
The protesters and soldiers were taking cover and have a look out on that street.
In the middle of these havoc, innocent people were also being shot at.
It is unclear if the soldiers or the protesters are the ones to pull the trigger.
The Redshirt's leader assures that they do not have any weapons, and they did not pull any trigger.
Yet the government blames everything on the protesters.

Day 13

Kenneth Chancey, an Aspiring Neurosurgeon, was a homeless teen.
His mother do drugs and lead an unhealthy lifestyle.
Yet Chancey have a huge dream, huge life ahead.
He wants a good life, a good job, trying to forget his life on the streets.
I think this video is posted because they want to encourage students to have dreams, and work towards it.

Following my previous post,Sheri Lynn Davis who were "caught on tape beating a student, apologizes for her actions"(subtitle for the video)
I see this is how the media raise awareness of the community.
Her attorney then apologizes for her actions, letting her emotions take over her.

Friday, May 14, 2010

Day 12

Actress alleges Polanski assault
"Charlotte Lewis claims she was assualted by Roman Polanski at age 16 when she appeared in his 1986 film 'Pirates' ".

Clearing that even if one runs away, the law and enforcement will track one down.

As a soldier in the WW2, husband, father, and grandfather.

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Day 11

Teacher fired after beating student
Teacher in Jamie's House Charter School was caught on tape, beating a child around.
The students are shocked how their favorite teacher is acting, yet anyone could change.
Through research, seems like the teacher did not even have a teaching certificate.

On the World of Dance competition,
Few 7-year-olds are wearing very little, and was dancing with inappropriate moves.
It is shocking how the new generation are so 'innocent'.
Critics states that even Beyonce, the original dancer, were wearing more clothes than them.

We are now in the technology era where we can buy golds with cash.
the vending machine is fully secured with cameras and alarm system.
According to Leone Lakhini, "Machine quotes international gold prices", and Thomas Geissler, the idea maker says the machine updates in every 10 minutes.

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Day 10

Watching the news is getting easier day after day.
I find that I did not dislike watching the news as i did last week.

Pictures too Sexy for Miss USA?
People are starting to question what message the Miss USA are giving.
It all started when the advertisement for Rolex came out.
Miss USAs were in lingerie, being all sexy~
People believe they are corrupting young girls' mind,
making them believe the outer look is more important than knowledge.

Incidents, one after another, kindergarten children in east china, got attacked.
The most recent one happened in the northwest of China,
A 48-year-old man attacked a kindergarten, managed to kill 5 boys 2 girls, and 2 teachers.
Right after the killing, he then committed suicide.

This is not the only incident. This killing spree started on April 28th to April 30th.
According to Sociology Professor Zhu Li from Nanjing University, he believes that the attack on March 23, "a former community doctor who stabbed eight children to death and wounded five others at an elementary school in eastern China"(para 14), have brought a new way of attack for "inspired copycats"(para 16).

Everyday, there are 500 New Yorker who dies due to the lack of free organs.
A New York senator wants to propose to automatically make everyone an organ donor,
people would have to "opt out" instead.
I see that Facebook is becoming more and more influential because "you can always voice your views on our facebook page"(Roberts C.) from CNN.

Gays and Lesbian in Philippine feels that they are not well represented, and they hope to change the views of many other Filipinos.
Philippine is a very religious country, but they[campaigners] state that the bible or teachings did not say anything wrong about homosexual.
Gays and Lesbians are not frequently heard in their country.
They strive for equal rights, equal opportunity and acceptance.

Monday, May 10, 2010

Day 8

Starting from today, my main source of news would be from CNN.
First of all, i would say that CNN is easier to watch than BBC does.
For example, we could watch videos which are on TV, or we could also choose through categories such as most popular, latest news, and by region too.
CNN video is on this page - http://www.cnn.com/video/#

The science of oil slicks - informed by Allan Chernoff
Following the oil spill at the Gulf of Mexico, the government then try to find ways to clean them up. many ways including spraying chemicals to break down the molecules, burning and to remove it manually, which is the cleanest way. In this video, they explain how they manually remove the oil in the sea.

Many not able to vote in UK elections
Many people are not able to vote for the election because of the long que.

Sun Nam Lim is still in his own quest to find these tigers at the DMZ.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Day 7

Today i spent only 30 mins on news.

Following my previous post, I know that the airports around Europe is closed and therefore, just today, some are reopened again.
Passengers who are travelling are advised to check for their flight in advance.

Ms Kagan is nominated by US President Barack Obama,
alongside the nine US Supreme Court justices.
But her actions on how she urge gay rights concerns the Republicans.

Volcanic ash covers Icelandic town
The Volcano incident in Iceland "has fallen onto the town of Vik in Iceland"
It also shuts down the airports in Portugal and Spain.

Picture filmed outer space and google satellite to locate the biggest beaver dam in the world in Canada's Wood Buffalo National Park.
The dam stretches as long as 850 meters

A man claims to not have eaten or drank any form of food or liquid for the pass 70 years.
Living only on meditation alone.
This different way of living which raises the attention of Military of Establishment.

Friday, May 7, 2010

Day 5

Today, i spent an hour browsing through sites for interesting news.
Which i kept going back to the same news such as Times Square, UK election and oil spill.
I then found an interesting site which we can look at all the front page of most of the popular news site.

Two police officers killed in Bangkok
2 officers died in Bangkok,
suspecting the gunshots are made from the Red Shirts,
who are camping just across the road.

This is an expo which brought together many different countries to form an exhibition in ShangHai.
many of the pictures are included in the link above.
Among 240 countries there is the UK pavilion and Denmark's Little Mermaid Statue.
There is also a pages of interesting pictures on the msnbc website
Super interesting!
we can also find some clips about each country's pavilion on youtube!

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Day 4

i am not liking the idea of watching news!! :(
even though it is definitely a 'plus' in my life.
But making the effort to watch the news everyday is ... X.X
and so! i found a good solution!
- Set my homepage to BBC
- Always start with BBC (so i won't wander off)

Today on the one minute worldnews
- UK election is not done yet
- the greek parliment infavour of drastic spending cuts and tax rises for international financial rescue packets - for pay and pencen cuts
- The new Nigeria Prime Minister is Jonathan Sworn following the death of the nation's elected leader Umaru Musa Yar'Adua (as stated in DNA, Read the World.)
= PM Sworn had been in charge since the President Yar'Adua is sick.

I also came across an interesting clip "Pakistan's 92 year-old British teacher"
He started teaching in Britain but moved on after WW2. he then helped the new nation, India.
he brought his British way of teachings to the mountains in the Chitral Valley in northern Pakistan, as stated by Orla Guerin.
His mottos are "there is always room for improvement" and "Dream Big and Workhard"

I then wander off to the Asia-Pacific News, "Deadly tornado and storms hit south-western China"
as acknowledge by "BBC Severe storms and a tornado have killed at least 39 people near the city of Chongqing in south-western China."
many others were injured.
Partially or fully destroyed buildings are also found.

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Day 3

Today, i spent time on entertainment news and world news.
guess what?! i am finding for a network that i could stream news online
(which works like what we watch on TV)
Therefore it would make things so much easier because i do not have to look without directions.
I spent atleast 30 mins searching around, always starting with the One Minute World News.

The Nigerian prime minister have officially passed away.
The workers in Greece are getting less pay because of their crisis.
- they burnt down a bank, indirectly a pregnant woman who could not get out in time.

ENTERTAINMENT!! YEEES!!!
Undeniably, entertainment news is the best news ever!!
after 2 days of watching uninteresting talks from presidents to countries and .... *GAH*
i'm on the edge.

Breaking Dawn! the 4th series of the Famous Twilight is coming soon!! (Although the 3rd series is not out yet)

Besides that, i also come across "Picasso painting fetches record auction bid in New York". painting from Pablo Picasso is sold at $106 million, "the most expensive art work sold at auction", as stated by Ashleigh Nghiem.

it appears to me how little about Hollywood celebrities appear in BBC compared to CNN.
I will talk about CNN next week. So, look forward to it!

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Day 2

Through the one minute world news in BBC

- May day, 3 main party leaders of UK, accused each other of telling lies to win vote.
- Faisal Shahzal, found guilty for the attempt attack in time's square last Saturday.

I also did further research on Faisal Shahzal, NY bomb suspect nearly escaped US on Dubai flight
as stated in the news,

"According to court papers, Mr Shahzad has admitted his role
in Saturday's attempted attack and said he received training in
bomb-making in Pakistan." (para.2)

Mr Shahzad told the authorities that he was acting alone whereas ...

"Pakistani authorities have reportedly arrested
two men associated with Mr Shahzad" (last para)

First Day of watching the News.

Hellloooo~
as this is my first attempt to blog.
Please, stay with me :)

As how my rule book explained, from today, I will be watching news everyday.
Thus, am going to post 2 to 3 interesting things happening around the world, most likely those which made to the front page.

Today, I watched the news through the BBC webpage http://www.bbc.co.uk/
Once i'm in there, i saw these vast variety of clips, videos and podcast to choose from and the first thing which came to my mind was "OMG...*stares* where do i start?.....*where are my rules?! X.X*" yeps~ that's what happened.
So, according to the headlines on BBC, i watched the

- Failed car bomb was not al-Qaeda plot, says NY mayor
@ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8657606.stm

- US and Iran Clash at nuclear talks

For what happened in the NY bomb Plot hunt, investigators are still finding for the culprit and therefore suspect a white guy who happens to change his clothes...on the street! It is just a follow up about the bomb found parked in Times Square last Saturday.

US and Iran Clash at nuclear talk is about President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran denies the nuclear inspectors access and then accusing the US of making everything up.

Lastly, One minute World News lingers around the NY bomb Plot, Iceland Volcano disruption which severely disturbed the air transport system and the oil spill at the US Gulf Coast.

I cant stop to think how I need to track back what happened in the past to understand what is happening now.
TCH! NEWS! :(

30 days Experiment
Many friends of mine, including me, are highly uninterested in watching the news. We would appreciate when other friends and family members talk about it but we do not have the incentive of gaining information ourselves. Since young, my parents have been encouraging my to read the newspaper thus get involved with the on-going events. without a doubt, Very unsuccessful :D

The experiment I will be conducting is, watching the news daily for 30 days. I want to conduct this experiment because it seems that a number of Youth these days are not well informed. Besides, for a poor student like me, I do not own a television, moreover a cable. So, I will be watching the news for 30 days through my laptop.
There are many reasons why people are interested/uninterested in news.Without a question, being well informed is important.

why is it interesting?
- how the world is changing due to politics, natural disaster etc.
- know what is going on in the world.
- important to know/should know about what is happening where we are part of it.
- entertainment news.
- there is so much going on in the world in every minute.

why is it not interesting?
- there is too much going on and we can never get hold of everything
- too much of effort, do not know where to start.
- I can spend my time on other things such as hanging out and go for karaoke.
- Boring
- feeling detach from the news
This experiment will get me started on watching the news and develop a new habit. Because in this instant, i am more fond of spending time with my friends then to look for the recent news. For example, browsing through facebook is so much more amusing then browsing through the news.

At the end of the Experiment, I would like to see if I like this new found interest, or I would revert to my old self where I do not have any interest in it :)

The Rule

As i do not even have a television at home. I can only depend on the News source through the websites, such as BBC, CNN, ABC and TheStar. Since we have 4 weeks and 2 days to finish our experiment. My timeline would be as followed:
- Starting on May 3rd and stop on June 1st.
- I will spend at least 15 - 30 mins per day on the website.
- I will then write about the interesting news which caught my attention (around 2-3 news)
I will get sources and news mainly from ...
1st week : BBC News
2nd week : CNN News
3rd week : ABC News
4th week : TheStar News
I took 2 American News company and 2 overseas News company. That is because I may see and compare the differences in them.
on the 29th, I will talk about the difference in news between these different sources.
on the 30th, I will try to make steps for starters who would like to start on this new/profitable habit.
